What I Love About this Recipe
They turn out perfect every single time! If you're not too fond of the technical aspects of baking, this no-fail recipe is absolutely perfect.
It's the easiest Christmas brownie recipe out there- perfect if you don't like using the piping bag and just want to try something simple and effortless, yet fun.
It's decadent and delicious! You'll be using a packaged brownie mix, which means you'll have the perfect balance of flavor and texture- all of that in a jiffy!
Ingredients For the Rudolph Brownies Recipe
Brownie mix: Use your favorite brownie mix. I love sticking to the classic chocolate brownie for this one, since it has just right the right flavor and color.
Oil: For the perfect rich and moist cookies. Remember to use any neutral-flavored oil.
Eggs: For the brownies. Get them out of the refrigerator a few minutes before you begin.
Melted chocolate: To help the toppings stick to the brownie. I love this version that comes in a tube, but if you can't find it, you can just microwave some chocolate chips to melt it and use it to secure everything in place.
Pretzel twists: These will make the ears of Rudolph. Use the classic or salted version.
M&Ms: You'll need only the red ones- to make the nose. It'll take just a couple of minutes to separate the red ones from the pack.
Eyeball sprinkles: These are available at most candy stores, especially now in time for the holidays when everyone's baking and having a fun time in the kitchen.
See recipe card for quantities.
Variations & Substitutions
- If you don't have candy eyes, you can just use a bit of white and black colored icing to make Rudolph's eyes.
- While regular pretzels work well for this recipe, I would highly recommend using salted pretzels if you can. The slight saltiness cuts through the sugary brownies beautifully and the flavor balance is just spectacular.
- I cut the brownies into small rectangles here, but you can also try cutting them into triangles if you want to enjoy a different shape.
How to Make Rudolph Brownies
To make these decadent reindeer brownies, you'll need to prep your baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper. Also don't forget to preheat your oven as per the instructions on the brownie mix package.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the brownie mix, eggs and oil.
- Give this a good mix until you get a uniform batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking tray and bake as per instructions.
- Let it cool down completely and then cut into rectangles.
- Top the brownies with pretzels (for the ears), candy eyes and a single red M&M for the nose. Use melted chocolate or icing to secure everything.
- Wait for a few minutes for all the toppings to stick to the brownies, and then serve!
Storing Leftovers
If you have some leftover brownies, you can store them at room temperature for up to 3 days (if they haven't been topped yet). Just remember to use an airtight container to keep them fresh.
You can also refrigerate them if you want them to last longer. They should stay good in there for up to 7 days.
You can then reheat the brownies in the microwave for a few minutes until they are slightly warm and softened, and then top them with the pretzels, M&Ms and candy eyes.
Tips & Tricks to Make the Reindeer Brownies
- If you don't have red M&Ms, use any red-colored sweet to make Rudolph's nose.
- I used the classic chocolate brownie mix here, but you can totally experiment and try out any other flavored brownies too!
- For an added bit of indulgence, top the brownies with some chocolate frosting first (after they have cooled down), let them chill for a while, and then top them with the bits and bobs.
- You can also throw in some chocolate chunks or chopped nuts to give the brownies a bit of extra texture.
- Make sure you use room temperature eggs while making the brownies. This is a must if you want the perfect gooey and fudgy brownies.
Serving Ideas & Suggestions
These reindeer brownies are the perfect sweet treat to enjoy during the holidays! I love making and serving them with my other Christmas favorites like African chicken stew, steamed rice and carrot loaf cake.
And if you're making these as one of the many Christmas desserts you're featuring on your table, you might want to pair them with some classic milk-filled donuts, Grinch Rice Krispie treats or a nice extra moist orange cake.

Rudolph Brownies
Ingredients
- 1 box Brownie mix mine called for oil, eggs and water
- 8 Red M & M’s
- 16 Eyeball sprinkles
- 16 Pretzel twists
- Melted chocolate or icing to stick decorations on with
Instructions
- Bake brownies as directed on the box, in a 9x13 in baking dish. Line with parchment and spray with cooking spray before putting batter in there.
- When brownies are done, remove from oven to cool. Cool until room temperature.
- Remove from the pan and trim the edges so you have a perfect rectangle. Cut the brownies into 8 equal sized pieces.
- Place a small drop of icing where the eyes go, and carefully push the eyes into the icing/melted chocolate. You will do the same for the nose. I did find it was easiest to put a little icing onto the bottom of the pretzel, and then place it on the brownie. Serve and Enjoy!
Notes
- I used the classic chocolate brownie mix here, but you can totally experiment and try out any other flavored brownies too!
- You can also throw in some chocolate chunks or chopped nuts to give the brownies a bit of extra texture.
- For some extra sweetness and deliciousness, you can top the cooled, cut brownies with some chocolate frosting before you top them with the eyes and pretzels.
- Make sure you use room temperature eggs while making the brownies. This is a must if you want the perfect gooey and fudgy brownies.
