African Fish Pie

Fish Pie – Flaky, buttery and crunchy pastries filled with mashed, seasoned fish and veggies. It’s a typical snack in West Africa which is very delicious and worth another bite.

These are so easy to make, provided you follow this recipe detail.

Recipe Tips

  • Use cold butter and cold water to achieve a flaky crust. The secret is to keep it cold, so it is good to rest the dough after mixing in the refrigerator.
  • Do not over-mix the dough.
  • Cut dough to desired shape and size.
  • Filling for pies vary according to preference, ingredients, and method. Most importantly, it is the dough which is more tricky.

How to Shape the Dough

There are many ways to shape and seal the dough. In this recipe, I used a rectangular shape. Please feel free to change it as you want. To seal in the filling, I used a fork and a Pastry Crimper.
